The wine with the best
karma in the world.
100% for a good cause.

Maktub

Maktub was born from Paco Arango’s desire to combine his two passions—helping children with cancer and his love for wine. For over 20 years, Paco has been dedicated to supporting these children through Fundación Aladina, and now, with Maktub, he takes this mission further. This Rioja wine not only offers an exceptional tasting experience but also directs all its proceeds to Fundación Aladina’s projects, making it a wine that truly gives back.

Life is about moments, and Maktub is the perfect wine to savor them.

Manifiesto

Once thought to be lost, a piece of land was revived through patience and care, leading to the creation of Maktub. This Rioja Reserva, made from Tempranillo and Graciano grapes and aged for 27 months in American oak barrels, was crafted to be shared in life’s special moments.

If you’ve chosen this wine, it was meant for you.

Celebrate life, enjoy the journey, and do it with a wine that carries a deep purpose.

Paco Arango

Paco Arango is a renowned philanthropist who has dedicated his life to helping children with cancer. Since founding Fundación Aladina in 2006, he has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of these children and their families. In 2011, Paco combined his charitable work with his filmmaking career, with all the profits from his films going to support the fight against childhood cancer, raising over 9 million euros so far.

Now, with Maktub, a special collaboration with Marqués de Riscal, Paco continues his mission. Every bottle of Maktub helps fund Fundación Aladina’s programs, supporting children in their battle against cancer.

The word Maktub, meaning “it was written,” has always held special significance for Paco. His first film, also titled Maktub, was nominated for three Goya Awards, and all the proceeds helped establish a bone marrow transplant center at Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid, which also bears the name Maktub.

Paco’s passion for helping others shines through in everything he does, and Maktub reminds us that there’s always a way to make a difference—with a great glass of wine in hand.

The Wine with
the Best Karma

Maktub is not just a wine—it’s a story of resilience. Grown from vineyards that had been neglected for years, this Rioja Reserva comes from Tempranillo and Graciano grapes nurtured back to life. Tempranillo grapes are sourced from the historic Los Castejones estate, while high-quality Graciano comes from neighboring lands.

Aged for 25 months in American oak barrels, followed by another 12 months in the bottle, this wine reflects the dedication and care put into its production. Despite the challenges of 2017, including a devastating frost, the resulting vintage has been recognized for its exceptional quality by D.O.Ca. Rioja7

With over 160 years of winemaking expertise from Marqués de Riscal, Maktub represents a blend of tradition, care, and purpose. Every bottle supports the work of Fundación Aladina, proving that a wine can not only taste great but also have the best karma.
